Former President Olusegun Obasanjo don call for increase in the 13% derivation fund wey dem dey give oil-producing states for Nigeria.

According to reports by New Telegraph and Niger Delta Today, Obasanjo make the call during the inauguration of Azikel Refinery Crude Distillation Unit for Bayelsa State.

The 13% derivation fund na part of the oil revenue wey dem dey give oil-producing states. Many communities for Niger Delta don dey demand more benefits from the oil wey dem dey extract from their land, especially because of environmental damage and poor infrastructure.

Obasanjo’s call don bring back the conversation on whether oil-producing states suppose dey receive bigger share of the money wey Nigeria dey make from crude oil.
