Leaders from Ilaje for Ondo State and Itsekiri communities for Delta State don reject the reported plan to divert the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway from the coastal area go inside inland communities.

According to reports from other news outlet, the leaders insist say the road suppose follow the original coastal route as dem initially plan am.

The stakeholders argue say the proposed inland route go make the project longer and more expensive because of the difficult swampy terrain and plenty bridges wey go need construction.

Dem also claim say the coastal route from Olosunmeta through different Ilaje and Itsekiri communities go cover about 100 to 110 kilometres, while the alternative route fit stretch between 170 and 190 kilometres.

The two groups don also agree to set up a committee wey go engage the Federal Government, traditional rulers, youths, women and other stakeholders to push their position.

Dem say if necessary, dem fit also take legal steps to make sure say the original coastal alignment of the road remains intact.

Meanwhile, Works Minister David Umahi has previously explained that engineering conditions, including difficult soil conditions, influenced considerations around the highway’s alignment.
