The University of Port Harcourt has promoted 30 senior academics to the rank of professor and 16 others to associate professor.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Owunari Georgewill announced the promotions on Tuesday, stating they were approved during the institution’s 187th Governing Council meeting. The promoted academics underwent a rigorous assessment process.

The Faculty of Science recorded the highest number of new professors with seven, followed by the Faculties of Social Sciences and Management Sciences with five each. The Faculty of Engineering led in the associate professor category with four promotions.
