The Rivers State House of Assembly has requested the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, over alleged age falsification.
During plenary on Thursday, the House leader, Hon. Major Jack, presented documents suggesting the Chief Judge may have altered his age in service. Following this, Deputy Speaker Hon. Dumle Maol raised concerns over the allegation.
“These documents before me simply say that the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Simeon Amadi, falsified his age in service. Mr. Speaker, that is a very serious allegation, and I do hope that this House takes legislative notice,” Maol stated.
After deliberation, the House resolved to write to the DSS Director, requesting an investigation into the matter. Speaker Martin Amaewhule emphasized the need for a formal inquiry.
“The documents are only suggesting a case of age falsification by the Honourable Chief Judge of the state, Simeon Amadi. What it means is that there has to be an investigation to that effect,” he said.
Following a voice vote, the House unanimously agreed to seek DSS intervention and await the agency’s findings.
