President Tinubu Congratulates Six Nigerians Honored by Biden

President Bola Tinubu has applauded six Nigerian scientists and engineers named among the 400 recipients of the prestigious US Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).

Established in 1996, the PECASE is the highest honor bestowed by the US government on early-career scientists and engineers. The 2025 recipients were announced by President Joe Biden on January 14, recognizing their groundbreaking contributions to science, technology, and engineering.

The honorees include Azeez Butali, Gilbert Lilly Endowed Professor at the University of Iowa; Ijeoma Opara, Associate Professor at Yale University; Oluwatomi Akindele, Postdoctoral Researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory; Eno Ebong, Associate Professor at Northeastern University; Oluwasanmi Koyejo, Assistant Professor at Stanford University; and Abidemi Ajiboye, Executive Vice Chair at Case Western Reserve University.

In a statement, President Tinubu praised their achievements for elevating Nigeria’s global reputation and expressed hope that their expertise would contribute to Nigeria’s development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
