Victor Osimhen scored twice on Wednesday night to break the Turkish single-season goal record for a foreign player, leading Galatasaray to a 3-0 victory over Trabzonspor in the Turkish Cup final.
The Nigerian striker, who entered the match with 33 goals, netted in the 46th and 63rd minutes to surpass Mario Jardel’s 2000/01 record of 34 goals, finishing with 35 for the season. Baris Yilmaz opened scoring in the 5th minute as Galatasaray claimed their 19th Turkish Cup title — a national record.
Osimhen also moved up Galatasaray’s all-time foreign scorers list, overtaking Jardel with 35 goals in 38 appearances. Galatasaray now eye a domestic double with a potential league title win on Sunday against Kayserispor.
