Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Nasir Kwarra, don confirm say Nigeria go do Population and Housing Census for 2025, 18 years after the last one wey happen for 2006.

Kwarra talk this one for Abuja during the 2024 Nairobi Summit anniversary on Population and Development. E say, “Accurate census na key for better decision-making, and government don ready to make am happen next year.”

The last census wey UN recommend make countries dey do every 10 years don delay well-well. E first suppose happen for 2023 but dem postpone am so the new government fit own the process.

Kwarra also explain say this delay don affect areas like sexual health rights, stopping gender-based violence, and helping underserved communities.
