Gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has filed a lawsuit against social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over alleged defamatory statements.

The lawsuit, filed by Chinwo’s legal representative Pelumi Olajengbesi, follows VDM’s claim that she diverted $345,000 from shows without paying her former record label, owned by Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as EeZee Tee. Chinwo’s legal team has attached emails, payment receipts, and other documents to refute the allegations, describing VDM’s statements as “libelous, malicious, spiteful, malevolent, and grossly defamatory.”

The suit demands that VDM delete the posts, retract his statements, and issue a public apology. Olajengbesi emphasized that VDM was not involved in the dispute between Chinwo and EeZee Tee but misrepresented the situation in a way that damaged the singer’s reputation.

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Lagos has upheld an arrest warrant against EeZee Tee over alleged fraudulent conversion. His arraignment is scheduled for March 6, 2025.
