Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Filip Jorgensen has replaced Robert Sanchez as the club’s number-one goalkeeper. Jorgensen, 22, was chosen to start in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over West Ham earlier this month, while Sanchez, 27, has made several costly errors this season, including during a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.
Maresca explained that the decision was made to give Sanchez time to recover mentally and physically, but emphasized that Jorgensen is now his first-choice keeper. Maresca also expressed optimism about Chelsea’s progress, despite recent setbacks, stating that the team’s performance this season has been positive, particularly in the Premier League, where they are still on track for Champions League qualification.
