Renowned Nigerian dancer Kafayat Shafau, widely known as “Kaffy,” don unveil plans to celebrate her 25th anniversary as a professional dancer for 2025.
For an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, Kaffy announce her intention to organize mentorship and coaching classes for aspiring dancers as part of the anniversary celebrations. She go also launch an online mentorship platform called “Kaffyverse.”
“In commemoration of my 25th anniversary as a professional dancer, I want to give more to society. There are lots of programs planned to expose Nigerians to the exploration and exportation of the economic value that the creative industry holds,” Kaffy yarn.
She highlight say the “Kaffy Kreative Expo,” wey go happen from August 6 to August 10, 2025, go focus on how to monetize dance. The expo go showcase the entire creative industry, emphasizing the interconnectedness of dance with fashion, music, health, education, film, and more.
Kaffy note say she don positively impact over 5,000 youths throughout her career, thanks to the support of various individuals.
Kaffy gain international recognition in 2006 by winning the Guinness World Record for the “Longest Dance Party” for the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon.
Her accolades include the 2014 African Muzik Magazine Award for Best Female Dancer of the Year, the 2015 Beatz Award for Best Choreographer of the Year, the 2018 Headies Special Recognition Award, and the 2021 Beatz Award for Special Recognition.
