Haaland Out for Up to Seven Weeks – Guardiola

April 1, 2025

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will be out for up to seven weeks after suffering an ankle injury, manager Pep Guardiola confirmed on Tuesday. The Norwegian forward picked up the injury during City’s 2-1 FA Cup quarterfinal victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, where he scored his 30th goal of the season.

City initially stated Haaland would consult a specialist but expected him to return before the season ends, including for the FIFA Club World Cup in June. Guardiola later clarified that doctors estimated a recovery period of five to seven weeks, potentially ruling him out for most of the Premier League run-in and the FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest in April.

Manchester City, currently fifth in the league, are in a tight race for Champions League qualification. With Haaland absent, Guardiola acknowledged the need to adapt, saying, “We will find a solution with the players we have.”

City’s final league game is on May 25, with their Club World Cup opener scheduled for June 18, leaving hope for Haaland’s return in time for those crucial fixtures.
