Former Bournemouth player Jordan Chiedozie, 30, has been left in a coma following a serious car accident on the M27 near Southampton. The Bashley FC forward was traveling with club physio Reighan Taylor when they stopped to check a flat tyre. While outside the vehicle, Chiedozie was struck by another car and rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Bashley FC confirmed the incident on Tuesday, revealing that the driver responsible had been arrested for alleged drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Chiedozie remains in a controlled coma at Southampton Hospital, suffering multiple broken bones and severe injuries.
While Taylor was unharmed physically, she provided immediate first aid to Chiedozie at the scene. The club has postponed its scheduled match against Thatcham Town, with manager David Lewis stating that the squad is deeply shaken.
Chiedozie, son of ex-Tottenham winger John Okechukwu Chiedozie, has played for over 15 clubs in his career. Bashley FC has pledged full support to his family during this difficult time.
