The Federal Government has called on Nigerian radio stations to use their platforms to educate the public on climate change and its impact. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this appeal in a statement on Thursday to mark World Radio Day.
Idris emphasized the role of radio in equipping communities with knowledge to adapt to climate change, urging broadcasters to collaborate with experts for accurate information. He also encouraged Nigerians to adopt eco-friendly habits, stating, “effects of climate change issues are beyond borders and are felt globally.”
He congratulated UNESCO on the initiative and stressed the need to harness radio’s power to drive climate action.
