Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to ending raw sugar importation in Nigeria, announcing a $700 million investment in local sugar production. Speaking at the 14th Gateway International Trade Fair in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Dangote highlighted the group’s progress in its Sugar Backward Integration Plan.
Represented by Tunde Mabogunje, Dangote outlined investments in land, machinery, infrastructure, and social responsibility initiatives. He also revealed that Dangote Group has begun exporting fertilizers to several countries, including France, the US, and Mexico, and has started exporting refined petroleum products.
Dangote emphasized the company’s role in Nigeria’s economic diversification and its efforts to create jobs and reduce imports. Ogun State Speaker Oludaisi Elemide praised Dangote’s economic contributions and urged the group to enhance its environmental sustainability initiatives.
