Founder of Silverbird Group and former senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has warned that a third world war is “inevitable” due to rising global violence, nuclear weapons proliferation, and the emergence of “trigger-happy” leaders.
Speaking during a live interview on Tuesday with global affairs expert Dane Waters, Murray-Bruce said the conflict would devastate much of the world but leave Africa—and particularly Nigeria—untouched.
According to him, Nigeria’s peaceful diplomacy and lack of nuclear ambitions would shield it from the fallout. “Nobody is going to be fighting in Nigeria because we have no territorial ambitions, we have no desire to acquire nuclear weapons, we don’t want to fight anybody,” he said.
Murray-Bruce suggested that Nigeria could even become a refuge for displaced populations after such a war, though he stressed this would be managed with strict visa controls.
His remarks come as tensions escalate globally, with the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and intensifying hostilities between Iran and Israel fueling fears of broader conflict.
